Important for Student Safety
Important Message from the School Nurse
Several years ago the administration at Woodville School decided to make our school nut free
because we have several students here who have severe and life threatening nut allergies. We are asking
for your help to ensure our students safety while here at school by adhering to this nut free policy. Since
ANY exposure to peanuts /nuts could potentially cause a life-threatening allergic reaction that requires
emergency medical treatment, we are asking that you do not send any peanut or nut containing products
to school with your child.
Please be proactive and read product labels prior to sending foods to school with your child. An
item may not contain peanuts on the ingredient list, but some products like plain M&M’s and ALL Little
Debbie Cakes may have been cross-contaminated with a peanut product during the manufacturing
process. The label will say something like “This product has been packaged on the equipment that also
packages peanuts and/or tree nuts.” Please take this into consideration when packing your child’s lunch
or when sending snacks, birthday treats or party foods for the classroom.
Thank you for your support and assistance. If you have any questions about this issue, or if you
would like more information about peanut allergies, please let me know.
